Mike Rennie at The Old Town Hall
Paintings of Time & Place
Mike Rennie’s work is in the main concerned with environment. His local landscape plays a big part, as does the Plain and Severn Estuary. Paintings constructions emerge via drawings, collage and research.
Mike was, for 27 years, course leader in Foundation Art and Design at Wiltshire college, having previously taught Chester and Aberdeen School of Art. He has works in collections in the UK, USA, France and South Africa. In 2022 he won the Commonwealth art prize.
He has held over 30 one person shows and is an associate at 44AD Art Space in Bath.
“My work is essentially situation based, I use environments wherever I happen to be, and whatever is at hand. Some works are immediate responses. Others become an assemblage of connected themes and associations, producing a visual narrative”
