On Saturday 7 March 2026 we hosted a free event to celebrate International Women’s Day. Those who booked a ticket were asked to give a song that meant something to them as a woman, or celebrates womanhood in 2026. These songs were then put together to create our International Women’s Day Community Playlist, which was played to our audience after our event. You can listen to the playlist on Tidal or Spotify.
Our International Women’s Day celebrations also included:
- A week-long exhibition from Mighty Girls and photographer Ila Cooper. Mighty Girls exhibited self-portraits created in recent body positivity workshops, while Ila exhibited images of women in protest in the UK.
- A creative drop-in workshop with Mighty Girls, creating protest placards.
- Belly Dancing taster sessions with local dance teacher Wafaa Powell.
- Film screening of Sisters with Transistors, programmed by Lorena Pino.
- Music from DJ Nina Love and flautist Katy ‘La K Flute’ Mallia.
- A panel discussion with Nine Love, Katy Mallia and Grace Leatherbarrow-Thrumble, hosted by Lorena Pino.
This event sold out for another year in a row, and we loved being able to celebrate womanhood and community in our building. Thank you to everyone who came down and celebrated with us.
Our International Women’s Day event was partly funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
